Birmingham Air Conditioning Ltd - Birmingham

The company is based in Garretts Green serving the West Midlands area as well as the whole of the UK. For further information please contact us using the below details.

From our Garretts Green offices we operate a breakdown and repair facility. When called we would despatch an engineer to your site who would investigate the problem and if possible repair it whilst on site. Where this is not possible, i.e. spare parts are required, we would provide a quotation and estimated time scale for the repair.

Regular maintenance is not only good practice, but also provides other benefits such as:

Ensuring the unit is running at optimum efficiency.
Keeping the running cots as low as possible.
Extending the life of the equipment.
Providing an early warning of impending failure of various items of equipment. The latter point is particular relevant as it often possible to repair or replace the part before it fails and possibly causes further damage to other components.

Our standard service includes various system checks such as current drawn by major electrical components, which is checked against its published data, refrigerant gas and liquid pressures, leak testing etc. All the filters and coils are cleaned to minimise the energy to keep the units operating at peak efficiency. Should and defects be found, these will be recorded on a service sheet and a quotation for any remedial works required prepared.

Asset registers of equipment can be produced for sites with a multiplicity of equipment. These registers have the advantage of identifying the type and manufacture of the equipment, its output and location. The register also acts as a tool to show which equipment breaks down frequently the repairs undertaken and parts used. This helps identify older and vulnerable equipment or equipment incorrectly located or with the wrong usage.

As you will be aware current legislation such as the Montreal Protocol various refrigerants, including a most common one R22, are being phased out of production (2010 for R22). Also it is now incumbent on all owners of refrigerant systems under the F-Gas regulations containing over 3 kg of refrigerant within them, to be annually inspected and equipment with over 300 kg to be tested twice a year with records of the amount and type of refrigerants recorded.

Birmingham Air Conditioning Services can advise on aspects of these regulations and provide the services and documentation required to comply with the legislation.

We offer a range of standard and bespoke Air Handling Units, to meet any requirement.

Which include: The latest Health Technical Memorandum 03-01.
Corrosive environments i.e. Swimming Pool and high humidity locations.
Combined supply and extract units to provide heat recovery to the latest building regulations Part L fitted with either recuperators or thermals wheels.
Special designs to fit within limited plant room space.
Fully weatherproof, if required.

We also manufacture close control units to provide accurate control of temperature and humidity within standard rooms, test rooms and to process applications.

We can supply air handling units in knockdown format for reassembley on site by our site personnel, which is a useful feature when retrofitting in existing plant rooms or transporting through an occupied building to the plant locations.

Kitchen Canopies/ Fume Extract

We manufacture a wide range of stainless steel kitchen canopies designed to meet the requirements of DW172, or simple extract canopies to contain dirty, dusty or fume producing processes.

Control Systems

We manufacture control panels and control systems, each individually tailored to the air handling unit and its application.

These systems can incorporate all energy saving devices required such as inverter drives, free cooling, heat recovery , minimum fan speeds and system pressures etc.

Installation

We have teams of highly trained, skill card certificated engineers capable of undertaking any type of mechanical services including:

Removal of redundant air handling or air conditioning equipment and its recycling.
Removal and certification of any type of refrigerant to comply with statutory requirements and F Gas regulations. All our engineers carry safe handling certificates and we are yearly audited by REFCOM for compliance with regulations.
Disposal of and certification thereof of refrigerants if required.
Ductwork erection.
Installation of split and VRV room air conditioning systems.
Installation of cold rooms.
Installation of close control units.
Pressure testing air handling units to DW144 Class A,B & C.
Testing and commissioning of room conditioning systems.
Commissioning of air flows.
Site investigation of systems and reports.

The company was incorporated in 1988 originally to manufacture quality bespoke air handling units to meet the requirements of consulting engineers who have found it difficult in sourcing a 'non standard' units such as those required by cheese making companies as well as nuclear, national health authorities and pharmaceutical industries.
